Registration is closed

Happy Spring SCOO members,

We drove to Vandemere Town Park. There is a small boat ramp, and 6, 30-foot docks with piles and a finger pier. There is also a dinghy dock, restrooms near the boat launch, 3 gazebos, and a covered picnic area with lots of trees and shade.

See proposed cruise schedule:

Tues. April 20

2-4 PM:  Arrive at Vandemere docks or anchor out.  There are red and green markers entering the channel to the small boat ramp.  Please check your instruments and Navionics for depths; the right hand slips appear to be deeper than the left hand slips on your entry.

SAFE Travels: Rick and Sue (Miss Adventure) will be monitoring Channel 16 and 72, if you need any information on your approach. We plan to anchor out by 1 pm.

4-5 PM: Meet and greet on shore in picnic area.  Open alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the park, but adult beverages can be enjoyed on boats or on dinghies. Bring a chair, a snack to share and your own beverage.

Dinner is on your own the first night (Tues. April 20), although there are 2 grills near 2 gazebos.  We will bring  enough charcoal and grilling utensils for both nights so sailors can grill their dinner on Tues night on land.

Wed. April 21

8-10 AM:

Light brunch will be provided by your cruise captains, including coffee, tea, fruit, pastries, bagels, cream cheese, fruit spread, cereal and milk.

Daytime activities can include a walk to the one general hardware store about 2 miles away, dinghy rides, naps,  LIARs dice or “TOKYO”, playing cards. Please bring your favorite game, such as corn hole or frisbees or gloves and ball to play catch.

3-4 PM:

The Fears will host wine tasting on Miss Adventure, which will be anchored out, so please find a dinghy ride or "swim" over.  Please bring a wine glass (although I have a few steel and plastic ones), and a bottle of your favorite wine to share so we can taste various kinds of wine. We will provide a bottle opener and water to rinse glasses between tastes.

5-7 PM:

SCOO will provide beef hamburgers and chicken on the grill with hamburger buns and condiments (the fixins’) and water. Please bring  chairs, beverages and a simple side (i.e., chips and dip, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit salad, cookies, or desert) to share.

P.S. No fires are allowed at the park except for the grills.

Thurs. April 22:

AM: Breakfast is on your own and most sailors head home early, although I am sure the town will not mind if SCOO members hang out in the park or shop in their store.
