Join us for SCOO'S Commissioning Day 2024
Please mark your calendars and join us to launch an exciting 2024 boating season!
The event will include an “on-the-water” blessing of the fleet, a commissioning ceremony and a wreath laying ceremony in honor of past Commodore Gerry Crowley and all other Commodores of the club who passed before him.
On Tuesday, April 16, between 10 - 11 AM, Father Bruce Cheney of St. Thomas Episcopal Church will accompany SCOO’s Commodore Karen Keiner aboard Vice Commodore Ken Reed’s boat serving as the SCOO committee boat to provide a blessing of the fleet. SCOO boats wishing to be blessed will proceed northward between Oriental Marker 1 and the SCOO committee boat.
At 12:30, at Lou Mac Park, there will be a commissioning ceremony, wreath laying, a presentation and greeting of new members, followed by lunch catered by Rick’s BBQ consisting of fried chicken and pulled pork, potato and macaroni salad.
Please bring a dessert to share, your chairs and drinks. Water will be provided. (Please note that Oriental town ordinance prohibits the consumption of alcohol at Lou Mac Park.)
COST is $15 per person. As with all catered events, a $5 late fee will be assessed if paying on the day of the event. **Please note that SCOO policy does not allow pets at social functions where food is served.
Hope to see you on the water and/or on the land to splash our cruising season in style!
